Praise for several other 'foodie destinations' too

Yorkshire Eateries Make Sunday Times Top 100

THREE Yorkshire restaurants have found their way into The Sunday Times' Food List.

The Yorke Arms in Ramsgill-in-Nidderdale (14); The Box Tree in Ilkley (48) and Van Zeller in Harrogate (79) all made the top 100 restaurants.

The paper said The Yorke Arms provided 'locality in no uncertain terms' and heaped praise on Yorkshire-born chef Frances Atkin and her aversion to 'boring food.'

The Box Tree was picked out for the work done by owners Simon and Rana Gueller had done to restore the fotunes of the restuarant since taking it on in 2004, including the appointment of Marco Pierre White as a partner last year.

Tom Van Zeller took plaudits for starting a successful restaurant during a recession and is now looking to move to bigger premises in Harrogate. Van Zeller has graduated from Betty's Tea Rooms all the way to his own place, via stints working woth Raymond Blanc, Tom Aitkens and Pierre Koffmann.

The Star Inn in Harome, The Pipe and Glass Inn in Beverley and the Crab and Lobster in Asenby were named among the top gastropubs in the country, depite not making the top 100.

Also not on the list but chosen among Britain's top 'foodie destinations' were The Star Inn, The Pipe and Glass Inn, the Crab and Lobster, The Magpie Cafe in Whitby and J Baker's Bistro Moderne in York.

Whenever we go to Harrogate, we always eat at Chez La Vie - wonderful food, lovely atmosphere - well worth a visit.
