KICKING off the A-list awards season the BAFTAs were, as always, as much a who's who of designers as they were acting talent.
This year's red carpet featured the expected high designer names such as Valentino, Vivienne Westwood, Givenchy and Pucci, but the one to watch came from the one and only H&M.
Other head-turners of the night included a floor length Valentino sparkly Cinderella gown as seen on Manchester-born actress Holliday Grainger.
Best actress nominee Michelle Williams wore a two tone bespoke dress from the brand, but before you rush to the nearest high street sadly this was bespoke-made by H&M and not straight off the rack.
Other head-turners of the night included a floor length Valentino sparkly Cinderella gown as seen on Manchester-born actress Holliday Grainger and new Bond girl Naomi Harris' canary yellow Pucci number brightened up the otherwise tame red carpet.
Over in the black Vivienne Westwood corset face-off Meryl Streep came out victorious over Christina Hendricks who quite frankly looked like she'd over baked the bread, so to speak. And there were more horrors where that one came from including Edith Bowman's shapeless sack of a Dior dress complete with granny gloves. Take a look at the hits and misses for yourself...

Love Christina Ricci's Givenchy dress! & the VB
Love Asha Leo's dress - wouldn't think the gold necklace would work - but it looks stunning on her fabulous figure
What was Edith Bowman thinking?
Underlining text on a website is usually reserved for hyperlinks
also, I think the usage of 'hyper' is overstated in the term 'hyperlink', as it doesn’t fit its characteristic or behaviour, I propose that the internet in total change to using the term 'translink' ...perhaps MC can run with that one?
All of those dresses are awful, other than Laura Bailey's and Asha Leo's who looks crazy hot, she just needs to reign the pout in by ~20%
Penelope Cruz had some scrunched up underarm boob issue in that dress, I was watching it with a couple of girls who also made similar style comments, it does nothing for her height and looks plain, I don’t feel that her dress was one of the better ones,
Laura Bailey's dress on the other hand is brave, new and eye catching and demands a second look, which is everything a dress for that occasion should be,
...But that’s just me perhaps, im a bloke and know nothing.
Is this website called 'London Confidential'.The presence of one Manchester born actress hardly justifies your coverage of an even taking place in London, that has got nothing to do with this city.Especially as it has already received lots of coverage in the national press this morning.
You are wasting space that should be given to local concerns. If you cannot find any, then I suggest you consider employing some writers who can.
Thanks for your comment David. This is Body Confidential, not Manchester Confidential. This article is a general piece for all of our city sites as this was a national event. The fact we picked out a Manchester actor's dress was based on the choice of fashion she was wearing, not the city in which she was born.
BORE OFF DAVID!
Your comment is as amusing as your face Anonymous
Jealous you dont have a dress David?
Jealous that you don't have any underwear?
